Dr. Frank Piro's practice is affiliated with Cathy Klemz, a permanent cosmetics artist who provides permanent cosmetics for the eyes, lips, eyebrows and the areola after breast reconstruction surgery. Permanent makeup is a cosmetic technique that involves tattooing the skin. It can also be used to cover scarring, certain skin conditions, and restore the natural skin color of the areola after mastectomy.
Permanent cosmetics eliminates the need to apply makeup on a daily basis and is an excellent cosmetic treatment for individuals with oily skin, little or no natural eyebrow line, hair loss on the eyebrows due to aging or chemotherapy, and those who may be allergic to makeup products.
We offer the following permanent cosmetics procedures:
Areola micro pigmentation is a process during which our medical tattoo artist implants pigment into the skin surrounding the nipple of the breast to restore natural coloring for patients who have undergone breast reconstruction surgery post mastectomy (breast removal). A custom blended color is used and treatment time lasts about 30 minutes for each breast. A repeat treatment may be needed for best results.
Permanent cosmetics treatments are not painful and are usually performed under topical anesthesia. Some patients may experience mild swelling and redness affecting the treatment area, which should subside within 24 hours. Patients are able to return to their daily activities right away and will be asked to apply Vaseline or a similar type of ointment to reduce dry skin and any possibility of irritation.
